Picture of a Bat

One bats can eat as much as one thousand mosquitoes and crop destroying insects in a one hour. So, they play a very important role in our ecosystem. Although they are very beneficial, they are associated with diseases that can be deadly to humans. Although it is highly unlikely to be bitten or to contract rabies, bats are known to be a primary animal that transmits rabies. Another disease associated with bats is Histoplasmosis. Histoplasmosis is caused by a fungus that grows from bat droppings, also known as guano. So, although bats are beneficial, it's not a good thing for them to share a habitat with humans.
